BIRTH OF A VISION

Greetings friends and family,

After several years of hard work and dedication, we are so excited to announce that we are expanding our agency to provide more impactful services to our community. In 2012, The Vine House began as a community service project to provide winter gear to the homeless in downtown Atlanta. After seeing an even greater need, we began to look into ways to aide in the homeless crisis.

In 2014, The Vine House began providing supportive services to local non-profits that served the homeless women and children in metro Atlanta. These supportive services included support groups, bible studies, financial literacy workshops and career and development initiatives.

Although great work has been accomplished, there is still a sense that more effective support is needed to be in place to get to the heart of poverty. Inspired by the work of community models, which focus on transformation and investment into a single community and its individuals, CEO Dominique Powell sought to cast new vision that would empower and support individuals to do for themselves while providing support in the areas of vocational and economic advancement.

Oftentimes, while our intentions are great, our charitable aide can lead to dependency, entitlement and loss of dignity. Our objective is to empower individuals appropriately while navigating external barriers utilizing their own talents and gifts, which promotes dignity and positive self-worth.

Today we are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization with a mission to empower individuals to thrive through vocation, economic and housing initiatives one community at a time.

In August 2017 we will open the doors to our supportive housing initiative. Hope House is a vocational program developed to stabilize those who are underemployed and as a result experiencing homelessness. Hope House will utilize a holistic approach incorporating resources for vocational and educational advancement to move individuals on a path towards stability and self-sufficiency.

Residents enrolled in our housing will pay a fixed rate commensurate to their income giving them the ability to focus on dreaming, hoping and living again. They will engage in supportive services to promote financial literacy and address any relational issues that contributed to homelessness.

It takes resources to provide this level of support to our communities. To finish out our 2017 fiscal year, we are requesting your support towards our goal for $7,000. We are seeking to raise a minimum of $3,000 by July 15, 2017. The funds will be used to pay rent, utilities and program materials.

We are extending an invitation to you to be a part of restoring hope and dignity to our communities. Thriving families promote thriving communities.
